As part of the team working on the board game project, my primary role was to design and create the cards for the game. The process began with brainstorming the types of cards that would best represent the knowledge and cultural elements we wanted to highlight. I worked closely with the team to ensure the cards aligned with the overall theme of optimizing Indigenous education.
As the designer of the board game cards, my main challenge was ensuring the designs were both visually appealing and functional while maintaining cultural sensitivity. I needed to balance creative design with the accurate representation of Indigenous cultures, ensuring the cards were educational and engaging without being disrespectful.
To address this, we conducted research, I consulted with team members. we used websites like https://bcnativearts.ca/native-symbols/ to get inspiration for card symbols.
